    Scott is a 37 year veteran of the South Carolina emergency services community and is the current Fire Chief at Westview-Fairforest Fire Department. He has 5 years of Law Enforcement experience which includes SWAT MEDIC experience and has been a Nationally Registered Paramedic for over 35 years. He is also an experienced CPR/FA, EMR, EMT,

    New Shooter Safety Seminar

      

    This 1 to 1.5 hour free zoom seminar will familiarize the new shooter to gun safety, gun storage, types of firearms and their parts, ammunition, range expectations, needed range equipment, cleaning your gun and other training courses. Participants will receive a New Shooter Seminar certificate of attendance if they attend the entire seminar.

    NRA Basic Pistol

    Have you just purchased your first gun and need to learn how to shoot before taking CWP or has it been awhile since you have shot? If so,  this is the course for you! 


    This Course includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers/semi-automatic pistols.


    Students learn NRA's rules for safe gun handling, pistol parts and operations, ammunition, shooting fundamentals, range rules, shooting from the bench rest, as well as, two handed standing positions, cleaning the pistol, and continued opportunities for skills development.


    Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules Brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet.


    Students will take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Exam and receive a course completion certification.

    NRA Basic Pistol/CWP Combo Course

    This Course includes both NRA Basic Pistol  and SC CWP into a 1 day course .


    Students learn NRA's rules for safe gun handling, pistol parts and operations, ammunition, shooting fundamentals, range rules, two handed standing positions, cleaning the pistol, and continued opportunities for skills development as well as SC CWP Law.


    Students will take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Exam and SC CWP SLED Exam as well as shoot the qualification course for each course .

    DEFENSIVE PISTOL I

    This course is a MUST if you want to learn how to defend yourself from a deadly threat after the completion of a Basic Pistol or CWP Course where these critical, life saving skills are not taught. 


     This course covers presentation from concealment, basic pistol shooting skills, malfunction drills, how to find and take cover and concealment, how to shoot from various kinds of cover and concealment, how to shoot strong and weak handed and how to point shoot effectively. The Tueller Drill will be presented.

    DEFENSIVE PISTOL II

    You have taken Defensive Pistol I and have mastered the basic fundamentals of defensive shooting. What is next?


    Defensive Pistol II!


     This Course covers shooting while moving, shooting from low cover, shooting from sitting, turning and prone positions, various shooting drills and close up shooting.

    AHA Heartsaver CPR/AED/First Aid COURSE

     Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED is geared towards anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for their job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements or anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years. 


    Cost of the class is $75   .00

    NASAR Basic Wilderness First Aid Course

     

    Basic  Wilderness First Aid (BWFA) is a practical 8-hour course that prepares you to recognize and avoid wilderness hazards, and do first aid outdoors with whatever equipment you have or can improvise.  CPR is a prerequisite. If needed, a CPR class will be held the Friday night before class for $60.


    This Course Covers:


    • Heat illness
    • Hypothermia
    • Frostbite
    • Altitude exposure and illness
    • Infection
    • Sunburn & sun protection
    • Lightning
    • Wilderness wound  and burn care
    • Bugs, snakes & bears
    • Marine hazards
    • Hazardous plants
    • Medical emergencies in the wilderness
    • Bone & joint injuries
    • Splinting

    TACTICAL EMERGENCY CASUALTY CARE (TECC) COURSE

     

    Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) course teaches EMS practitioners and other prehospital providers how to respond to and care for patients in a civilian tactical environment.

    The course presents the three phases of tactical care and integrates parallel EMS nomenclature:


    • Hot Zone/Direct Threat Care that is rendered while under attack or in adverse conditions.
    • Warm Zone/Indirect Threat Care that is rendered while the threat has been suppressed but may resurface at any point.
    • Cold Zone/Evacuation Care that is rendered while the casualty is being evacuated from the incident site. 


    The 16-hour classroom course includes all new patient simulations and covers the following topics:


    • Hemorrhage control including immediate action drills for tourniquet application throughout the course;
    • Complete coverage of the MARCH assessment;
    • Surgical airway control and needle decompression;
    • Strategies for treating wounded responders in threatening environments;
    • Caring for pediatric patients;
    • Techniques for dragging and carrying victims to safety; and
    • A final, mass-casualty/active shooter event simulation.


    NAEMT's TECC course is endorsed by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma.

    NASAR Wilderness First Aid Course

     

     Wilderness First Aid (WFA) is a practical 16-hour course that explains wilderness hazards and trains you to treat injuries and other emergencies in the wilderness with hands-on skills and role-playing scenarios.  CPR is a prerequisite. If needed, a CPR class will be held the Friday night before class for $60.

    Tactical Emergency Casualty Care for Law Enforcement Officers and Civilians (TECC-LEO)

     An 8-hour classroom course specifically designed for law enforcement officers and other non-EMS first responders. The course covers materials found in the 16-hour TECC provider course at a level appropriate for first responders. It includes 8 hours of content, which includes interactive lectures, skill stations, and patient simulations. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a certificate of completion, a wallet card recognizing them as a TECC-LEO provider for 4 years, and 8 hours of CAPCE credit for qualified participants. 


    The 8-hour classroom course includes patient simulations and covers the following topics:



    • Hemorrhage control including immediate action drills for tourniquet application throughout the course;
    • MARCH Assessment;
    • Chest Seals, Nasal Airway and Wound Packing;
    • Strategies for treating wounded responders in threatening environments;
    • Cover and Concealment; and
    • Techniques for dragging and carrying victims to safety

    PreHospital Trauma Life Support for First Responders (PHTLS-FR)

     This 8-hour course is specifically designed for non-EMS first responders and civilians. This course trains responders to provide the most effective trauma  treatment before emergency medical services (EMS) arrive on the scene. In the field, seconds count. PHTLS-FR teaches  and reinforces the principles of rapidly assessing a trauma patient  using an orderly approach and immediately treating life-threatening  problems as they are identified.  The course includes interactive lectures, skill stations, and patient simulations. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a certificate of completion, a wallet card recognizing them as a PHTLS-FR provider for 4 years, and 8 hours of CAPCE credit for qualified participants. 


    The 8-hour classroom course includes patient simulations and covers the following topics:


    • Hemorrhage control including tourniquet application and wound packing;
    • XABCDE Patient assessment;
    • Chest Seals and basic airway skills;
    • Shock recognition and treatment;
    • Head and spine trauma; and
    • Techniques for dragging and carrying victims to safety



    Cost of the class is $150.00

    Tactical/Defensive Shotgun Course

     This 8-hour course will go in-depth on working the shotgun in several different ways.  Reloading techniques will be enforced. Along with proper deployment and  use of a valuable firearm. Expect to deploy 50 rounds of 00buck, 25  rounds of slug and 150 rounds of bird shot. 


    The 8-hour classroom course includes  the following topics:


    • How Your Shotgun Works
    • Shotgun Accessories
    • Patterning Your Shotgun
    • Ammunition Selection
    • Speed Reloading
    • Clearing Malfunctions
    • Transitioning to Different Ammunition Types
